Martial Arts & Workout Music

Northern Shaolin. Kung Fu. Martial Arts. Working out. Exercise. Training. Lifting weights. Jogging. Getting things done around the house, even.

All of these things (and possibly more) bring to mind a certain vibe. This vibe can be helped or hindered by music. Needing to feel motivated? Want to feel inspired? Just that extra edge – that little bit to push you farther, to do one more rep., to keep striving, to push on… Music can and will do all these things and more.

Below you will find our Spotify playlist that we sometimes play during our Northern Shaolin Kung Fu classes (and sometimes in our Demo Team sessions as well).

If this is not your first time here, you may notice that the selection is different from your last visit. That’s because it’s a living piece of change. Evolving to meet the needs of the martial arts student.

I edit Spotify Playlists often. Recently I had to download the Desktop application to see the “Explicit” vs. clean columns, so I could get rid of all the songs with explicit lyrics.

And those that I, personally, “liked,” but were not appropriate for the class. For example, songs with positive and uplifting music that was also slow and soothing would serve much better when practicing Tai Chi, Qigong, Meditating, etc., than in our Kung Fu class. And, of course, vice versa.
