Allen Pittman is teaching a workshop on the Wisdom of the Body seminar in Atlanta, GA, this weekend, June 11th from 10 am to 4 pm at the Unity Church of North Atlanta, in Marietta, Georgia.

There will be a one hour lunch break from 12 pm Noon to 1 pm.

Wisdom of the Body

This will likely be the most comprehensive look at the human body and its relation to yoga, shamanism, philosophy, psychology and anatomy that a person can get while having fun at the same time! Bring a mat and a blanket, curiosity and willingness to explore yourself

Allen Pittman

Wisdom of the Body is an ancient remembering through movement and a step forward into what a human being can be. It is a way of remembering who you are and is a way to De-traumatize and Restore, reboot and reground yourself. It is the origin of Yoga, the history of religion, philosophy and the tactics of martial arts. It is based on how the human being is in life, rather than how someone thinks they should be.

It is a comprehensive Physical Education and Training System fusing Human Development, Physical Therapy, Martial Arts and Yoga.

It’s difficult to think that you’ve not heard of Allen Pittman before, because, to be honest, he is a Legend. He was one of the first few to write books about the Chinese Internal Martial Arts (think Tai Chi, Bagua and Xingyi, among others) in English!

He’d probably tell you not to think of him that way, showing extreme humility, but you can rest assured that you’d get some amazing training by this man.

Allen has been a personal friend of mine for years. I’ve studied a bit of Gao style Ba Gua Zhang, Xingyiquan, Taijiquan, Qigong, and other topics under his guidance. He is personable, friendly and fun. And above all else – the breadth and depth of his knowledge and experience is a bit over the top. And yet, also quite true and real.

As a matter of fact, Allen was our very first interview on our old martial arts podcast awhile back, which you can listen to or download here. And then we interviewed him a second time.

As you might have guessed, Allen Carroll, our Xingyiquan teacher in times past, was trained by “Grand-daddy Pittman.”

Allen Pittman has traveled the world for 40 years apprenticing in yogic, healing and martial arts traditions. He has worked as Teacher, Therapist, Trainer and Bodyguard with people of all ages and cultures. Called a genius by psychologist James Hillman and also by poet Robert Bly, Pittman has been the bodyguard of the Dalai Lama and other celebrities & scholars including Richard Gere, Ralph Nader and Deepak Chopra.

Although our little Kung Fu family is not hosting this seminar, we’ve helped do so in the past. We’re just happy that he’s back from Europe for a moment to share some of his specialized knowledge and experience with us here stateside yet once again!
