New Northern Shaolin Kung Fu Class
PATHS Atlanta adds more martial arts classes this year, including a new Northern Shaolin Kung Fu class:
WHAT

Wednesday night Northern Shaolin classes would be ideal for new students, and advanced practitioners alike. The focus will be on core drills, applications, theories & principles of this style of Kung Fu, usually known as "Ji Ben Gong".
This class will move at a fast pace, with a standard structure you can rely on. Fast & light warm ups, qigong, then on to the Ji Ben Gong training, to include foundational drills and applicaitons. The last part of class will be dedicated to individual form repition, correction and training. Mandarin Chinese language will be introduced as well.
Northern Shaolin Kung Fu can be a whirlwind of knowledge, so this class will help advanced students solidify certain concepts and body movements, enchancing their overall Kung Fu. Brand new students will find this class a treasure due to its standardized structure, and it’s focus on core principles – making their introduction into the Chinese Martial Arts via Northern Shaolin an extremely rewarding one.
WHEN
Wednesday nights, 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm starting on February 3rd, 2010.
WHERE
Academe of the Oaks campus, 146 New Street, Decatur GA, 30030. If you have never been to one of our classes there, simply come to the parking lot on the left at the top of the drive and enter the building by the basketball court. Extra parking is available on the left, outside the fence, and also on the street.
WHY
All too often I see students practicing their current forms or applications and I realize that they need more Ji Ben Gong ingrained into their Northern Shaolin Kung Fu. Thus, this class

This class is intended to perform several functions in our Northern Shaolin curriculum. First, it will provide a great place for students new to Northern Shaolin (or even Chinese martial arts in general) to learn the basics in detail and in a comfortable environment.
Second, it’ll reinforce fundamentals for advanced students. Everyone knows that if you don’t have the basics – you don’t have Kung Fu. This class will give intermediate and advanced students a place to hone basic Northern Shaolin skills, while enjoying a structured, easy-to-follow routine, and learning "new ways to play with old toys".
Lastly, this class will provide a laboratory environment for me to accurately measure the students’ progress.
